Bé bú mẹ có cần uống thêm nước lọc?

Dinh dưỡng có tầm quan trọng đặc biệt đối với trẻ em. Chế độ dinh dưỡng tốt cho trẻ trong giai đoạn từ sơ sinh đến 24 tháng tuổi đóng vai trò quan trọng đối với sự phát triển thể chất trong suốt cuộc đời trẻ. Bé nhà bạn mới được 1 tháng tuổi và sữa mẹ là thức ăn thích hợp nhất cho bé. Tổ chức Y tế thế giới (WHO) khuyến nghị rằng “trẻ sơ sinh cần được cho bú sớm (trong vòng một giờ đầu sau khi sinh) và được nuôi hoàn toàn bằng sữa mẹ trong 6 tháng đầu đời, sau đó ăn bổ sung hợp lý nhưng vẫn duy trì cho bú sữa mẹ đến 24 tháng tuổi”. Chế độ dinh dưỡng thích hợp trong suốt 2 năm đầu đời sẽ cải thiện sự tăng trưởng và phát triển thể chất, thành tích học tập và cả sức khỏe trong tương lai của trẻ.
Theo khuyến cáo này, việc nuôi con bằng sữa mẹ hoàn toàn có nghĩa là trẻ sơ sinh chỉ bú sữa mẹ mà không ăn hoặc uống thêm bất cứ một loại thức ăn hay chất lỏng nào khác kể cả nước. Rất nhiều nghiên cứu đã chứng minh, việc cho bú mẹ hoàn toàn trong 6 tháng đầu giúp trẻ có nguồn dinh dưỡng tốt nhất và giảm khả năng phát sinh bệnh tật không chỉ ở tuổi ấu thơ (tiêu chảy, viêm phổi, hen phế quản...) mà cả khi trưởng thành (béo phì, đái tháo đường, tim mạch và một số ung thư).
Sữa mẹ là thức ăn hoàn chỉnh nhất, thích hợp nhất đối với trẻ vì sữa mẹ cung cấp đầy đủ năng lượng và các chất dinh dưỡng cần thiết như đạm, đường, mỡ, vitamin và muối khoáng với tỷ lệ thích hợp cho sự hấp thu và phát triển cơ thể trẻ.
Sữa mẹ có thành phần 85% là nước. Do vậy, việc bú mẹ hoàn toàn có thể cung cấp nhu cầu về nước và dinh dưỡng cho trẻ, ngay cả trong điều kiện thời tiết nóng bức. Vì vậy, trong 6 tháng đầu, nếu bạn đủ sữa đảm bảo cho bé được bú mẹ hoàn toàn thì không cần thiết và không nên cho trẻ uống thêm nước nhằm giúp trẻ tận dụng tối đa nguồn sữa mẹ.
Trong sữa mẹ còn có các chất đề kháng giúp trẻ chống đỡ bệnh tật. Vì thế bạn không nên lo lắng về mất vệ sinh khi không cho bé uống nước tráng miệng sau mỗi bữa bú. Bạn cố gắng “ăn no, uống đủ, ngủ tốt” để đủ sữa cho bé được bú mẹ hoàn toàn. Bạn hãy cho bé bú theo nhu cầu, vừa để bé được tận dụng hết nguồn sữa mẹ, vừa có tác dụng giúp sữa mẹ được tiết ra tốt hơn và nhiều hơn ở những lần bú sau. Nếu cho trẻ uống nước lọc, bé sẽ bú ít hơn. Mặt khác, các dụng cụ như cốc, thìa và nước cũng có thể trở thành nguồn lây nhiễm bệnh cho bé nếu không được đảm bảo vệ sinh.
