Ðể trẻ không bị cận nặng hơn

Cho đến hiện nay, nguyên nhân thực sự gây ra cận thị và sự tiến triển của cận thị vẫn chưa được biết rõ. Các bằng chứng cho thấy, cận thị trẻ em tiến triển là do sự kết hợp của yếu tố gen và môi trường. Trẻ có bố mẹ bị cận thị thường dễ bị cận thị hơn và trẻ có thời gian hoạt động trong nhà nhiều hoặc nhìn gần nhiều (đọc sách, xem tivi và chơi game…) thì có nhiều nguy cơ bị cận thị cao hơn trẻ dành thời gian nhiều cho hoạt động ngoài trời. Một số thống kê cho thấy, tỉ lệ cận thị ở thành phố cao hơn so với ở nông thôn, ở trường chuyên lớp chọn cao hơn so với trường bình thường.

Những dấu hiệu báo hiệu trẻ bị tật khúc xạ

Cầm sách rất gần mắt, ngồi gần tivi hoặc bảng, kêu nhìn xa hoặc gần mờ (trẻ bị cận thị có thể than phiền vì vấn đề nhìn xa không rõ như nhìn không thấy rõ chữ trên bảng hay xem tivi…), nheo mắt khi nhìn lên bảng hay xem tivi, chép bài của bạn bên cạnh, kém tập trung hoặc hoạt động kém, những trẻ không thấy rõ có thể chú ý đến chuyện khác, kết quả học tập có thể kém, bỏ sót những chữ hoặc câu khi đọc sách, chớp mắt hoặc dụi mắt liên tục, nghiêng đầu để dùng một mắt nhiều hơn mắt kia, kêu nhức đầu hoặc mỏi mắt sau khi đọc sách trong một thời gian dài, nhìn kém vào buổi tối...

Hiện nay, chưa thể chữa khỏi cận thị ở trẻ em và một trong những cách hữu hiệu nhất để ngăn ngừa cận thị hoặc để làm giảm sự tiến triển cận thị là trẻ nên có thói quen chăm sóc mắt tốt. Điều này bao gồm khoảng cách nhìn gần nên được kéo ra xa và trẻ nên nghỉ ngơi mắt thường xuyên, nên tăng cường các hoạt động ngoài trời.

Các thói quen vệ sinh và chăm sóc mắt tốt

Ở Việt Nam, theo các thống kê khác nhau tỉ lệ cận thị từ 20-60% tùy theo độ tuổi và khu vực thành thị hay nông thôn. Ước tính ,Việt Nam hiện có gần 3 triệu trẻ em độ tuổi 0-15 tuổi bị mắc các tật khúc xạ cần chỉnh kính, trong đó tỷ lệ cận thị chiếm tới 2/3, chủ yếu tập trung ở đô thị. Ở khu vực nông thôn và miền núi tỷ lệ cận thị 15-20%, ở khu vực này do điều kiện y tế và vật chất khó khăn nên cận thị tiến triển nhanh và thường rất nặng, ít được chỉnh kính...

Cầm vật để nhìn gần cách mắt ít nhất 30cm và cố gắng ngồi đọc hơn nằm đọc.

Xem ti vi ở khoảng cách ít nhất 2m.

Màn hình máy tính cách mắt ít nhất 50cm và điều chỉnh độ lóe thấp nhất (glare).

Ánh sáng phòng cần được đảm bảo đủ để đọc, dùng máy tính hoặc xem tivi nhưng không được gây chói.

Khuyến khích trẻ nên nghỉ ngơi mắt sau khi đọc sách hoặc xem tivi sau mỗi 30-40 phút; nhìn xa ra ngoài cửa sổ và tập những bài thư giãn mắt.

Khuyến khích trẻ nên dành thêm nhiều thời gian cho hoạt động ngoài trời.

Các bậc phụ huynh khi phát hiện trẻ có các dấu hiệu như trên nên cho trẻ khi khám sớm ở các chuyên khoa mắt để được điều chỉnh kịp thời tật khúc xạ, trong đó có cận thị. Đeo kính đúng số, tuân thủ hướng dẫn của bác sĩ chuyên khoa mắt, tái khám định kỳ 3 tháng một lần đối với trẻ bị mắc các tật khúc xạ, có một chế độ học tập và nghỉ ngơi hợp lý là những thông tin các phụ huynh cần ghi nhớ để bệnh cận thị của con em mình không tiến triển nặng thêm.

Tỉ lệ cận thị ngày càng tăng cao ở các nước châu Á như Hồng Kông, Singapore, Trung Quốc... Riêng ở Trung Quốc có hơn 80% người trẻ bị cận thị.
