Hai loại thuốc mới trị ung thư da

(Dân trí) - 2 loại thuốc mới Vemurafenib và Ipilimumab giúp kéo dài cuộc sống cho bệnh nhân ung thư da đã được công bố tại hội thảo Hiệp hội ung thư lâm sàng Mỹ.

Thuốc Vemurafenib đã được thử nghiệm trên 675 bệnh nhân bị ung thư da. Kết quả cho thấy, 84% bệnh nhân uống Vemurafenib 2 lần/ ngày có thể sống thêm 6 tháng, trong khi tỉ lệ này ở hóa trị chỉ là 64%.

Một thử nghiệm khác cho thấy tiêm Ipilimumab cũng giúp kéo dài sự sống của bệnh nhân ung thư da ác tính.

Theo đó, thuốc tác động lên gien lỗi có tên BRAF. Đây là loại gien xuất hiện ở hầu hết những bệnh nhân đã bị ung thư di căn.

Các nghiên cứu tiếp theo sẽ xem xét liệu Vemurafenib có thể điều trị các loại ung thư như ung thư buồng trứng, ung thư tuyến giáp và ung thư ruột không.

GS Richard Marais, Viện Nghiên cứu Ung thư, người đã chứng minh vai trò của gien BRAF liên quan với các khối u ác tính, đánh giá: “Đây là bước đột phá trong việc chữa trị ung thư hơn 30 năm qua” và là “bước tiến to lớn trong lĩnh vực này”.

Theo GS Peter Johnson, chuyên gia lâm sàng TT Nghiên cứu Ung thư Anh, các phép trị bệnh trên thật sự hiệu quả và thực tế. Những thành công của nghiên cứu này phần nào thúc đẩy các chuyên gia nỗ lực hơn trong việc giúp các bệnh nhân chống chọi lại với căn bệnh ung thư da nguy hiểm này.
