(Dân trí) - Tính chất và vẻ ngoài của da có thể cho phép các thầy thuốc lâm sàng xác định tổn thương xương ở những phụ nữ mãn kinh chỉ bằng “một cái nhìn liếc” thay vì xét nghiệm tốn kém.

Theo các nhà nghiên cứu trường ĐH Yale, nhìn tình trạng da biết mức độ loãng xương là bởi vì lượng protein trong da và xương có mối liên hệ với nhau. Tức là nếu cổ và mặt của chị em nào đó hằn lên nhiều vết nhăn, họ sẽ phải đối mặt với nguy cơ bị gãy xương cao hơn do mật độ xương thấp (loãng xương) gây ra.

Trên 114 phụ nữ mãn kinh (đợt kinh cuối cùng diễn ra trong vòng 3 năm qua) ở nhiều vùng của nước Mỹ đã tham gia vào nghiên cứu. Các nhà khoa học đã kiểm tra da ở 11 vị trí trên mặt và cổ, cả những điểm nhìn thấy và những điểm phải sử dụng thiết bị đo độ cứng để tiếp cận như vùng da ở trán và má.

Trọng lượng xương và mật độ của nó được đo bằng sóng siêu âm và tia tử ngoại.

Ông Lubna Pal, PGS Sản phụ khoa và Khoa học sinh sản của trường ĐH Yale cho biết: “Chúng tôi nhận thấy rằng những người tham gia nghiên cứu có vết nhăn hằn sâu trên da đều có dính dáng tới căn bệnh loãng xương. Vết nhăn càng sâu, mật độ của xương càng giảm và mối quan hệ này không phụ thuộc vào độ tuổi hoặc những nhân tố được biết đến là có ảnh hưởng tới trọng lượng của xương”.

Mới đây, một nghiên cứu được công bố tại cuộc họp về nội tiết ở thành phố phía Đông Bắc của Boston, Massachuset, đã chỉ ra rằng da càng đàn hồi thì xương càng chắc. “Nghiên cứu của chúng tôi rằng tính chất vật lý và vẻ ngoài của da có thể phản ánh chất lượng xương là rất đáng chú ý bởi điều này có thể cho phép các thầy thuốc lâm sàng xác định tổn hại xương ở những phụ nữ mãn kinh chỉ với “một cái nhìn liếc” mà không cần đến những lần kiểm tra tốn kém”, Pal cho biết thêm.
