Sữa bò “quá mặn” đối với trẻ nhỏ

(Dân trí) - Trẻ dưới 1 tuổi không nên uống sữa bò bởi vì chúng quá nhiều muối so với nhu cầu cơ thể, các chuyên gia dinh dưỡng cảnh báo.

BS Pauline Emmett và Vicky Cribb, chuyên gia dinh dưỡng ĐH Bristol (Anh), nhận thấy cứ 10 trẻ có 7 trẻ có chế độ ăn quá mặn.

Các nhà nghiên cứu cho biết: sữa bò có chứa 55mg muối trong mỗi 100ml, cao gấp 4 lần so với sữa mẹ (15mg/100ml). Còn hạm lượng muối trong sữa bột công thức là 15-30mg/100ml.

Một trẻ dùng khoảng 700ml sữa bò mỗi ngày sẽ tiêu thụ khoảng 385mg muối, chỉ tính riêng loại thực phẩm này, tức là tương đương với gần 1 nửa nhu cầu khuyến nghị (tối đa là 1g muối) cho trẻ đến 1 tuổi. 1/8 trẻ nghiên cứu đã được cho uống sữa bò thay vì sữa mẹ hay sữa công thức.

Các nhà nghiên cứu cũng nhận thấy những trẻ uống sữa bỏ có xu hướng ăn thực phẩm ăn sẵn nhiều muối, bao gồm các loại thực phẩm chế biến sẵn như đậu rang, spaghetti hộp. Và điều này sẽ gây ra nhiều vấn đề sức khỏe trước mắt như làm tổn thương thận và lâu dài như huyết áp cao.

Hơn 4.000 trường hợp tử vong tại Anh mỗi năm có thể được ngăn ngừa nếu giảm lượng muối trong chế độ ăn hằng ngày từ 8,6g xuống còn 6g.

Theo đó, “Phát hiện này chỉ ra rằng lượng muối nạp vào cơ thể trẻ ở độ tuổi này về cơ bản là giảm. Trẻ nhỏ cần thực phẩm được chế biến riêng không có muối vì thế nghiên cứu này rất có ý nghĩa, giúp bố mẹ chú ý hơn khi lựa chọn 1 loại thực phẩm tưởng như là phù hợp với trẻ”, các nhà nghiên cứu cảnh báo.

Ngoài ra, họ đề nghị các nhà sản xuất nên giảm lượng muối trong các thực phẩm chế biến sẵn.

Nghiên cứu được đăng tải trên tạp chí Clinical Nutrition EU với sự tham gia của 1.200 trẻ 8 tháng tuổi chào đời trong năm 1991-1992.
